Qurtuba university of Science and Information Technology conducted its third convocation on 4th May, 2013 at Pearl Continental, Peshawar. Mr. Ishaq Khattak, Minister of Science and Technology was the chief guest. The Guest of honor was Prof. Dr. Abdul Mateen. The convocation ceremony was attended by dignitaries from reputed universities of Khyber Pukhtoonkhwa, parents of the enrolled students, management and faculty members of the university.
A total of 176 students were awarded degrees. Wherein, 12 PhD scholars were awarded with their degrees first, the 11 M.Phil/MS degree holders next, followed by the 93 Masters and 83 Bachelors students.
The university also garlanded gold medals to 30 students while 35 students were awarded with merit certificates.
Afterwards, the chief guest, Mr. Ishaq Khattak, delivered a brief but worth provoking speech and highlighted some different aspects and importance of education. The Vice Chancellor of university, Prof. Dr. Hamidullah khan Alizai, also addressed the audience. Guest of Honor, Prof. Dr. Abdul Mateen presented an over-view of his convocation address which was highly appreciated by the audience. Dr. Zulfiqar Khan Niazi, President, Qurtuba University, after presenting his speech thanked the Chief Guest for taking out time from his busy schedule and honoring the ceremony with his gracious presence. He also thanked the guest of honor and other dignitaries for bestowing the event with their courteous companies.
At the end of the convocation, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Hameedullah Khan Alizai presented souvenir shields to the worthy chief guest, Mr. Ishaq Khattak, and guest of honor, Dr. Abdul Mateen.
The ceremony ended at 1pm when Mr. Sher Bahadur, registrar, declared the convocation ceremony closed after taking permission from the president of the university and the convocation procession proceeded away from the hall.
All the respected guests and students were served with a lunch.
