Orientation Day for MS/M.Phil & Ph.D

An orientation day was organized by ORIC for new MS/M.Phil and Ph.D students on April 7th, 2018 at Peshawar Campus. The faculty members, administrative staff and Dr. Asim Zeb (Director ORIC) welcomed the fresh students. Dr. Asim Zaib briefed the new students regarding University rules, Semester rules, Library and other career related facilities provided by the University. The session was concluded by Questions and Answers sessions and vote of thanks by resource person.

Research Proposal Seminar

Today Higher education is being driven by research activities, with more and more attention and resources being diverted towards quality research, the need to research have never been strong for University students. Keeping in view the importance of this, a research seminar was arranged by ORIC dated: March 27th, 2018, which was held for MS/M.Phil students where they could learn the basic techniques on how to go for Research Proposal. The resource person Dr. Abdul Hameed (HoD Dept. of Linguistic & Literature) carried out the seminar under the following topics:
The seminar was comprised out for the following points:
1.To learn mechanics of writing a Research Proposal with special emphases on the following:
2.Identification & formulation of statement of the problem and generating research question (s).
3.Developing a detailed understanding on writing a critical review from the related literature.
4.Develop an understanding on how to format a research proposal.
The above said activities were possible only because of the efforts of Dr. Asim Zaib, Director ORIC. The seminar was ended with a vote of thanks to and from the resource person. Students were thankful enough for the arrangement of this event and they showed great interest in follow up sessions.

QEC Team Visit to D.I.Khan

The Department of QEC and IT Cell have jointly developed QEC Portal for the digitization of different activities of the University. In order to brief and develop better understanding to use this portal, following members visited Qurtuba D.I.Khan for two days 15, and 16th of March, 2018,

3.Mr. KashifSaleem, Assistant Director QEC
They met with QEC officials, Registrar office and members from different faculties in different sessions. The team explained the functionality and working of the QEC software. The meeting was ended with a vote of thanks.

BOASAR Meeting

The meeting of the  Board of Advanced Studies & Research (BOASAR) was held on March 22nd,  2018 in the Conference Room of the University at Peshawar Campus for considering Research Proposals of MS/M.Phil and Ph.D scholars. Mr. Saif Ul Ilam, Pro-VC, Qurtuba University chaired the meeting.

Sports Week at DI Khan

The sports week began with an opening ceremony on 2/26/2018, Registrar, MrAzmat Ullah Khan and other senior staff members inaugurated the event. Sports week started from 2/27/2018 to 3/3/2018, Students from different department participated with zeal and enthusiasm, in the Cricket, Volley ball, Badminton and Table Tennis at D.I.Khan Sports Complex.

Mr Amir Ullah Burki and MrMahadJehangir were main organizers of the event, while, MrAbid Ullah, Mr Ehsan Owais and Mr Salman Qamar managed smooth conduct of Cricket.

Mr Muhammad Nabeel, MrMalik Farhan and MrMuhammad Imran organized matches of badminton.

Mr Anwar Ullah arranged and managed the Volly Ball matches.

Table Tennis was managed by MrMahad and Mr Amir Ullah Barki.

The following day all the Teacher took the role of sports leader and organized the games for the students to play. It was pleasure to watch the interaction between the students. As well as sporting skills that students show in this sports week.

Two Days Workshop on SPSS

A Two-day Workshop on “SPSS: Concepts & Practical” was held on Feb 2nd, 2018 at Qurtuba University DI Khan. The workshop was organized by PASTIC Peshawar, Gulls Association Pakistan & Qurtuba University, DI Khan. 

The workshop aims to give assistance to research students to understand and interpret the data obtained from their questionnaires. Different research students from the Department of Management Sciences, Sciences & IT and Engineering were present to do a hands-on and detailed inputting of data through SPSS. The resource person discussed the following topics: Introduction to Sampling and Designs, Inferential Statistics, Test on One and Two Sample Means, Chi-square Tests, Non-parametric Tests, Inferential Statistics and other advance topics.

The SPSS workshop was interactive. The students were encouraged to raise their queries about the derived data from their research outputs. Most of the participants have brought their data so that the actual processing through the SPSS program can be utilized.  The students were given the chance to practice and ask the speakers at the same time.

The students were pleased with the workshop and even requested a follow-up training for SPSS.
